From 2023 food waste have to be collected separate in all MS. This will create compost and digestate for use as nutrients in agriculture. Are the Commission considering setting treshold for plastic residues in compost and digestate?
Angelo Maggiore
01:32:20
are you observing an increasing trend in the use of plastics in agriculture or do you foresee an increasing trend?
Xavier Ferry
01:33:09
No. Quantities are stable, as quantities per tonne of food produced is lowering each year
Angelo Maggiore
01:36:54
can an increase be foreseen in relation to encapsulation of pesticides or fertilisers in pellets in the future?
Airi Kulmala
01:39:25
Are the Commission considering setting treshold for plastic residues in compost and digestate? --> really important question..
Luciano Falqui
01:52:45
Hi, My name is Luciano Falqui from Plastica Alfa, an Italian SME engaged on polymeric material transformation by extrusion and injection molding. We produce piping and drippers for agriculture. How is it possible to take part at Papillons as stakeholders? How we can effectively help the project?
Anne Deininger
01:54:24
Can you stop sharing Violette :)
Luca Nizzetto
01:55:17
Thanks Violette! We are on the same train
Constance Schlumberger

What can a consumer do to limit his or her exposure to plastic coming from agricultural soils?
Morgane Schnoller
02:08:20
Good morning ! Question : why do you think the issues of plastic in agriculture hasn’t been tackled as much as for plastic in the ocean ?
Mayeul d'Anselme
02:10:21
Good Morning everyone ! Is there some kind of an international working group on plastic in agricultural soils ?
Giacomo Guala
02:10:39
I also have a question for the panel: what are the concrete alternatives for plastic in agriculture?
Luca Nizzetto
02:18:11
Dear all please find attach a stake holder reports of our previous project (IMPASSE) on pmicroplastic pollution in soils from the use of sewage sludge
Xavier Ferry
02:35:16
Global statement on agri-plastics in soil is not verified. Studies has been conducted by the Bio-Gratex project on the fate of oxo-degradable, bio-degradable and conventional in agricultural soil. In 50 years of mulch use in France, no problem in soil was never identified in appropriate use. Collection rate for mulch is over 90% in France.

Thank you all for this very informative session, let's keep in touch, and please contribute to our web based consultation on a policy framework on biobased, biodegradable and compostable plastics to come (on Dg ENV website)
Dimitrios Karpouzas
03:11:42
First you have to define if plastics, conventional or biodegradable, have an effect on soil ecosystems and then really take decisions about banning type of plastics. First define the risk and then take decisions
